Overview of the Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional

Abstract: The Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional (CFTC) is a new research unit, created with a strong commitment to foster education and research in computational physics. It is also our purpose to widen the present scope of CFTC's research, through new external collaborations in interdisciplinary projects.

With this aim in view, we shall give a brief description of ongoing research projects at CFTC that may be relevant to computational biology:

  1. Self assembly in 'chemical systems': surfactant solutions and living polymers
  2. Protein folding
  3. Models of epidemiology
  4. Methods of optimization
